   Another winner from Blue Monkey - Monkey. Brewed in celebration of their 5000th brew (I think it was 5000) and described by them as an IPA. Excellent at 5%, less dangerous than Ape Ale (5.4%) but less depth of flavour as well hence not quite into A&H's F*****g Brilliant.

   Downton - Endeavour IPA 10%. With reference to the previous pages discussion on brewery's second brands, I believe that Downton is Hop Back's 'experimental brewery'.
   Endeavour is described as an Australian hopped double IPA. I don't really know what a double IPA is but I do know that Endeavour is F******g Brilliant.

   The GBG and other CAMRA sources suggest not but they are on the same industrial estate and Beermad says of Downton "Adjacent to Hop Back brewery and the two companies co-operate quite a bit. Even the Downton website points at Hop Back's. They claim to be separate businesses though."

   A landlord who takes their beer reasonably regularly told me that they were linked but it was a passing comment rather than a detailed explanation. Their website links, proximity and the nature of Downton's beers all pointed that way so I took it on trust. Interesting that the breweries deny any link and perhaps there isn't one now.

   Link or no link, Downton are certainly brewing some interesting and drinkable ales.

   I found one for the Good list on Friday, Hopcraft Ta Moko Black IPA at 5.5%.
   The recent Tap East festival featured a 5.8% Windsor & Eton Irish Conqueror Black IPA which deserves Good status but I suspect that it was a one off.
